Privacy policy

UAB Lietuvos telegramų agentūra ELTA (hereinafter – the Controller) hereby sets out conditions for processing personal data when using the Controller’s website www.elta.lt. Conditions laid out in the Privacy Policy apply each time when accessing content and / or services provided by the Controller regardless of a device used (a computer, a mobile phone, a tablet computer, a TV etc.).

Data about the Controller is collected and stored by the State Enterprise the Centre of Registers’ Vilnius branch.
Please read the Privacy Policy carefully as you confirm your agreement to the Privacy Policy every time you visit the website of the Controller or its accounts on social media. If you disagree with the conditions, please do not visit our website / social media accounts and do not use our content and / or services.

We confirm that data of visitors of the Controller’s website and social media accounts is collected following existing legal regulations of the European Union and the Republic of Lithuania as well as instructions of supervisory authorities. All reasonable technical and administrative measures are applied so that data collected about visitors of the website or social media accounts would be safeguarded against loss, unauthorised use and alteration. The staff of the Controller have committed in writing not to disclose and disseminate to third parties information received at work as well as information about visitors of the website.
People younger than 14 years of age shall not provide any personal data via our website (websites) and social media accounts. If you are a person younger than 14 years of age, you shall obtain permission of your parents or other legal guardians and send it to us before providing personal data.
Terms used in the rules shall be understood in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679.


What personal data we collect, store and use?

Information received directly from you
Some websites and social media networks enable you to provide information directly to us. When registering an account on the website www.elta.lt you directly provide the following information:

Information about you may be received from third party social media networks when you log in to them, for example, on the news agency’s Facebook account.

You may refuse to provide us certain information (such as information intended for marketing), however, in this case, it may be impossible for you to use additional services we offer or you will not receive the latest proposals.


How do we use your information?

Information provided when participating in various competitions, contests or campaigns may be publicly announced on the website managed by UAB Lietuvos telegramų agentūra ELTA and / or its social media accounts. For example, we may announce names and surnames of winners as well as contest entries.


Whom do we reveal information about you?

We shall reveal your information to the following entities:
  • companies providing services on our request, for example, Lithuania Post, banks, payment processors. These companies have limited possibilities of using your information – they cannot use it for purposes other than providing services to us;
  • companies that help organise competitions / contests / campaigns, i.e. advertising agencies, marketing agencies. These companies have limited possibilities of using your information – they cannot use it for purposes other than providing services to us;
  • other parties when required by law or when it is necessary to safeguard information society services provided by us.

Instances when we may reveal information about you to other parties:
  • in order to comply with the law or respond to mandatory requirement of court proceedings;
  • in order to affirm the legitimacy of our actions;
  • in order to protect the Controller, its rights and property or ensure their safety;
  • we may reveal information about you to a related third party in case of a merger, sale or bankruptcy of companies;
  • in other cases with your consent or your legitimate request.


How long is your personal data stored?

We shall store personal data of subscribers for the duration of subscription services and for five more years. Your personal data will be erased afterwards. For marketing purposes, we shall store your data for five years or until you yourself opt out of receiving proposals and newsletters.


What do we do to protect your information?
 
We undertake sensible physical and technical measures to safeguard information collected about you for purposes of providing content / services. However, even though we undertake appropriate measures to safeguard your information, please have in mind that no website, internet operation, computer system or wireless network is entirely safe.


Your rights

We guarantee the implementation of the following rights and disclosure of any related information upon your request or inquiry:
  • to be aware (be informed) about management of your personal data;
  • to access your personal data and learn how it is managed;
  • to ask to rectify, erase your personal data or stop management of your personal data, with an exception of storage;
  • to refuse your personal data from being managed, including for direct marketing;
  • to ask to erase your personal data ("the right to be forgotten");
  • to ask to transfer your personal data, that is to allow you to learn about your personal data in a commonly used and machine-readable format;
  • to file a complaint with the State Data Protection Inspectorate.

The Controller may not create conditions for data subjects to implement the aforementioned rights in cases pursuant to law that require carrying out prevention, investigation and detection of criminal offences and violations of professional ethics or integrity as well as in cases that require to guarantee the rights and freedoms of the data subject and other persons.


Third party sites, services and products on our websites

The Controller’s website (websites) or social media accounts may contain third party banner ads, links to their websites and services that are not under the control of the Controller. The Controller is not liable for security and privacy of information collected by third parties. You must exercise caution and read privacy policies applied by third party websites and services that you use.

If an agreement cannot be reached, disputes are resolved following the law of the Republic of Lithuania.
